Daddy was grilling in the backyard (it is Memorial Day after all) and Kevin came out into the backyard with him. After splashing in his sand and water table, the steaks were done and it was time to go in, just in time to get out of the rain. But no, Kevin thought the rain was fun. Since we were going to have to clean all the sand off him anyway, Daddy let him run around in the rain for a while. It's not like he wasn't already wet!

Summer Portraits
With Kevin turning 4 years old next week, it was time for the Sanders Family Summer Portrait session.

This pose may look familiar -

since we had a similar one this past Christmas.

Believe it or not, we didn't do this on purpose! We were getting shots of the boys together and trying to get Kevin to move a little closer to Alan. They were sitting side by side and we asked him to hug his baby brother. All on his own, he scooted behind Alan. So cute!
Here are the rest of the session's photos for your perusal.

An Afternoon on the Riverwalk
We went to the Riverwalk today. The weather was beautifully cool and there was a nice breeze.

Kevin looks cool in his shades, doesn't he? After a quick snack on the grounds of the Guenther House, we strolled along the river.

When Daddy put the shade on the stroller down, Alan whipped it up and laughed. He thought playing Peek A Boo with Daddy was fun!

While we headed back, we saw a heron (a crane? I'm a Mommy, not an ornithologist) glide along the river and land. How exciting!

Mother's Day Tea
Today, we had a Mother's Day Tea at Kevin's school. We mommies put on our lovely paper tissue corsages and waited while the kids came in from the other room.

We gathered for Circle Time, where Kevin was the helper. First, he held the flag for the Pledge of Allegiance...

... then he pointed to the month and day.

After Circle Time, the kids sang a couple of special songs ...

... and then were dismissed with the Rolling Ball to serve refreshments and sit with their mommy.

My place setting was marked by a plate that Kevin had painted and a cookie he had decorated. Ms. Anna had been hinting at all the surprises Kevin had been working on for me all week!

What a lovely morning!

As we were leaving, Ms. Anna gave us a basket from PPCD, Ready Set Go and the Hardy Oak PTA. It was a bouquet of hand prints from all of Kevin's classmates and teachers and filled with gift cards to help out our family from their families and the PTA. What a wonderful school and community!

A Lazy Afternoon
Finally a weekend at home! The boys enjoyed playing in the family room, jockeying for position around the PSP playing Baby Einstein.

Mommy and Daddy worked on pile of laundry, and Alan decided that the nice fresh clothing was the perfect spot to romp around in.

Kevin took advantage of Mommy sitting in one spot to fold clothes and played with her hair.

Sleepy
Kevin was up late at Uncle Marc's birthday party, and was out to the hospital with Daddy first thing in the morning to see Mommy and Baby Alan. He was pretty pooped, and in the middle of playing fell asleep on an arm chair.

When we think of all the trouble it took to get him to fall alseep as a baby, it's pretty amazing to see him falling asleep practically standing up!

Fiesta!
This week is Fiesta! On Thursday, Kevin made a sombrero and poncho at school. Mommy was going to take a picture of him in it today, but because Alan had to go back to the hospital, that will have to wait.
At the hospital today though, we got the first Fiesta medal in our family. One of the nurses gave Kevin a Cavaliers medal for being such an awesome big brother!

Kevin's Big Adventures
While we've been dealing with a crisis, Kevin has been spending a lot of time with friends this week. Kevin spent the first evening with Austin and Stefanie. Kevin had a great time with Austin's train table (Austin's a Thomas nut!) and they all wore themselves out on the trampoline in the back yard. Austin and Stefanie's mommy filled them up with mango (now restocked at Costcto again, yay!).
Kevin spent the next afternoon and evening with Jaz and Em. Ryder and his mommy came to visit too! Jaz and Em's mommy decided to give Kevin a bath so Daddy could just put him to bed when they got home. Well, Jaz, Em and Ryder decided they wanted to take a bath too, so in they all went into the big master bedroom bathtub. The kids loved the jacuzzi jets and Ryder was determined to make Kevin laugh. This was accomplished by much head dunking and splashing. Jaz wanted to copy Ryder and Kevin and Em just sat back and enjoyed it all.
When he left Jaz and Em's that evening, Em was already in bed. Kevin gave Jaz a kiss and hug good bye, then went to a photo of Em to "give her a kiss good bye". How sweet is our boy?
Between MOMS Club, playgroup, his preschool, his little friend's preschool and our favourite play place, he has been to 5 Easter egg hunts this year! On the way to one of the hunts, Kevin and little friend Em demolished his basket of eggs in the back seat before they even got there. Em's mommy could hear them laughing and shouting "Egg!" over and over. When they got there, she discovered the remnants of the eggs all over the back. Em had been opening an egg and handing the contents of each egg over to Kevin each time they were chiming "Egg!". Not a single piece of candy was consumed though - they were happy just to open and scatter.

Jaz has very much enjoyed having easy-going Kevin around to play with. Unlike her little sister Em, Kevin lets her boss him around! What woman doesn't like a man who listens to her? And of course, a man who lets her dress him.

Jaz and Em's daddy captioned this photo "When in Rome". The hat sitting on Kevin's head at such a rakish angle belonged to Jaz and Em's grandma, whom Kevin also visited this week. She has been worried about Baby Alan and loved having a chance to cuddle with Kevin. While Jaz and Em's mommy took them to the playground at their grandma's building, Kevin hung out with her and sat on her lap for a nice visit.
Kevin spent last night at Jaz and Em's. He was reportedly bewildered by their family's musical bedtime routine, but very entertained. This morning, since her mommy could see he was awake, Jaz was allowed to go get Kevin up. She heard Jaz say over the monitor "Did you have sweet dreams Kevin?" and then “Did you dream about me because you love me?”. Adorable!
Kevin's adventures continue this morning with the final Easter egg hunt!
